Summon the Sky marks the fifth studio release from Marc Dold and Judith Martin, known as Aurah. The Swiss duo are best known for creating the original scores for films like “Loving Annabelle” and “Sunset Junction,” along with having tracks on the indie-sleeper hit, “Little Miss Sunshine” and the Leonardo DiCaprio “Blood Diamond.”
The six track EP is guaranteed to draw the listener into a hypnotic trance-like state, with the ambient pulsating rush of electronic beats matched against Martin’s erotic charged energy. Summon the Sky starts off with “3 Little Birds,” which harks back with a 60s vibe of The Mamas and the Papas’ era. “Take My Breath Away” has a lush, dream-like quality to it. While the title track has a very elemental and primal feel to it, “Shine On,” “Khorwa,” and “Pleasant Placidness” all provide an escape from reality, a shift in subconsciousness that allows the void of the present and seeks a higher means of mental travel.
Aurah uses an imaginative soundscape on Summon the Sky, simultaneously closing the physical world off while shattering the senses by layering electronic sounds against rich guitar chords and Martin’s sensual voice leaves the listener lost inside a gorgeous reverie.
Summon the Sky is available on iTunes or physical copies can be ordered here.
