Charleston Goes Prog: BTBAM, Hail the Sun, and Delta Sleep Light Up Music Farm

Charleston’s Music Farm turned into a haven for prog lovers when Delta Sleep, Hail the Sun, and Between the Buried and Me brought their co-headlining tour to town.

Delta Sleep kicked off the evening, proving themselves to be a band to watch. Hailing from the UK, their mathy rhythms and fluid, emotive grooves immediately grabbed the crowd’s attention. They balance technical intricacy with heartfelt delivery, setting the stage with a sound that felt both fresh and captivating—earning them plenty of new fans on this side of the Atlantic.

Next up, Hail the Sun delivered an explosive performance that has become their trademark. Vocalist Donovan Melero commanded the stage with ferocity, the band locking into every twist and turn of their progressive post-hardcore sound. The crowd roared when they broke into “War Crimes”, one of the standout singles from their upcoming album Cut. Turn. Fade. Back. (out October 24, 2025). They also gave fans a taste of what’s next with the unreleased track “Live Forever”, which was a personal favorite of the night and a clear indication that the new record is set to be a major moment for the band.

Closing the night, Between the Buried and Me took the stage with the precision and intensity that has cemented them as progressive metal titans for 25 years. Their set leaned heavily into their new record, The Blue Nowhere, blending technical chaos with moments of surprising melody. Tracks like “The Blue Nowhere” and “Stare into the Abyss” highlighted the band’s willingness to explore unexpected influences—everything from Gershwin and INXS to yacht rock—while still maintaining their signature heaviness. The crowd was locked in from the first note, riding the waves of complexity and groove as the band delivered one of their most dynamic and forward-looking performances to date.
