Axl/DC Brought It’s High Voltage Act to Atlanta
On Thursday, September 1 before a packed house at Philips Arena (brought to you by Livenation), AC/DC brought their 30-years of high-voltage rock ‘n’ roll to it’s fans in Atlanta. And I can tell you that without a shadow of doubt, they did not disappoint. I believe everyone in attendance left satisfied on all fronts.
Lets start by addressing the 300 lb elephant in the room, Axl Rose. Could he really pull of AC/DC to the satisfaction of their fans? The answer is a resounding YES, as this fan left with a new found respect and admiration for the talented lead singer and frontman. Rose was high energy from start to finish and I believe he left a lasting impression of respect for a job well done.
The setlist was scattered with the usual must haves, that included “Black in Black,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” “Thunderstruck” and “Hell’s Bells” Ac/DC performed solidly for slightly over two hours. The full setlist contained the following songs – “Rock or Bust,” “Shoot to Thrill,” ‘Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be,” ‘Back in Black,” Got Some Rock & Roll Thunder,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Damnation,” “Thunderstruck,” “High Voltage,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Train,” “Hells Bells,” “Given the Dog a Bone,” “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It),” “Live Wire,” “Sin City,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Shot Down in Flames,” “Have a Drink on Me,” “T.N.T.,” “Whole Lotta Rosie” and ” Let There Be Rock (with Angus Young guitar solo)” For the encore AC/DC did”Highway to Hell” followed by “Riff Raff” and ended on “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).”
For the first time since October 9, 1982 they played one of my personal favorites “Livewire” and it really brought back memories for me to see the Bell fall from the rafters of Philips Arena for the start of “Hells Bells.”
That being said a Whole Lotta Rosie with the enormous Rosie floating above the stage was classic AC/DC.
I really can’t recommend any more strongly to you that if this tour is coming to your area, you must do yourself a favor, treat yourself and I promise you won’t be disappointed! As long as Angus Young has voltage and a guitar the sounds of this iconic band will continue to pleasure audiences for years to come. For those about to rock, we salute you!
