CD review: ‘An Illusion in Shambles’ by The Persevering Promise

perserving

The Persevering Promise released its debut album this summer, and An Illusion in Shambles may be one of the greatest debut albums I’ve heard in a long time. The Persevering Promise spares no time hitting the listener with their strong sound in the opening track, “It’s Only the Beginning.” The energy from then on is very high and the raw emotion the voices of The Persevering Promise convey is evident. An Illusion in Shambles is fast-paced, high-octane and energetic.

The Persevering Promise has no problem belting out intense lyrics with both high-intensity screams and a strong singing voice. The voices are accented by the heavy guitar riffs and intense drums that one would expect from a post hardcore band, but The Persevering Problem is a cut above others. The way all the instruments and the vocalists are able to work together so well and can make such a beautifully written album. If the music doesn’t hit you, the vocals will. The vocals mix together beautifully and the lyrics are as intense and emotional as the music itself, really bringing the whole CD together. An Illusion in Shambles is like a love letter to the numerous lovers of the post-hardcore music scene.

All in all, The Persevering Promise probably could not have put together a better debut album. Everything about the album is simply intense. An Illusion in Shambles is a great listen from start to finish. The composition of this CD makes it not only an amazing CD, but I daresay an experience for one’s ears.  I highly recommend it to anyone who likes hardcore music (and if you’re not, listen to them anyway, and they may change your mind). If you’re looking for a new band to listen to, definitely try listening to The Persevering Promise. An Illusion in Shambles will not disappoint.
