The Sounds of Summer Tour 2013 with O.A.R., Andrew McMahon and Allen Stone hit the Tabernacle in the heart of downtown Atlanta on Saturday July 20 with a packed house of fans singing, dancing and chanting the night away with music pumping through the “Tabby” as beach balls floated through the air.
Pianist and singer-songwriter, Andrew McMahon took to the stage and performed a mixture of new material, off his recently released The Pop Underground, which came out on April 13, along with older songs from his time with bands Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin.
McMahon energetic energy abounded him, as he jumped onto the piano several times in good jest, he had a blast as he played with a sweet poppy liveliness on the piano with nice harmonies and catchy hooks. McMahon started his set off with “Bloodshot,” “I Woke Up in a Car,” “After The Fire,” “Holiday From Real,” “The Resolution,” “She Paints Me Blue, ” “Catching Cold,” “Dark Blue,” “Annie Use Your Telescope,” Mixed Tape,” “Synesthesia” and ended on “La La Lie.”

Between the McMahon’s set and O.A.R. taking the stage, the Tabernacle overflowed with party music, like “Blurred Lines” and “Scream and Shout” creating a dance party that everyone participated in with a rotation of beach balls floating through the air.
“That’s a nice sound you guys have out there.”

With paper lanterns hung across the stage, the “Tabby” was pulsating with pure goodness. O.A.R.’s music made you feel good to be alive and left you wishing you were on a beach with any drink with an umbrella in it, as a kaleidoscope of color exploded on the walls.
With a roots rock flair, O.A.R. started their nearly two and a half hour impressive set list off with “About Mr. Brown,” “Destination,” “The Wanderer,” “Dareh Meyod,” ” Heard the World,” “Conquering Fools,” “Gotta Be Wrong Sometimes,” “Night Shift,” “One Shot,” “Coalminer,” “Love and Memories,” “If Only She Knew,” “Hold On True,” “Hey Girl,” “Anyway,” “James,” “Shattered (Turn the Car Around),” “Heaven,” “Peace,” “That Was a Crazy Game of Poker,” “Something Coming Over, ” “52-50” and ended the regular set on “Missing Pieces.”
For the encore O.A.R. returned to the stage for three songs, the first one was “Over and Over” with Andrew McMahon, followed by two covers: Queen’s “Under Pressure and Wings’ “Live and Let Die.”
