B.J. Thomas – “The Raindrops Continue”

By Don Aters

It’s quite the journey from Houston, Texas, to world-wide touring. “Hooked On A Feeling” made him a noted crooner, and his music has now spanned six decades. “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” not only was a critical song for the soundtrack of “Butch Cassidy” but also critical in the songs inclusion into the Grammy Awards Hall Of Fame. Now 72, but looking more like 42, BJ has conquered his personal demons and become a noted entertainer in the world of country, pop and inspirational music.

During embryonic days, he signed with Scepter Records, and then matriculated to Columbia Records when his mass appeal and constant touring earned sellout shows across the globe. His impact on any chosen genre began to fade in the ’80s, but love of music kept BJ touring and he has returned to an open-armed audience who grew up listening to the songs that not only defined him but also trade-marked an entire generation. Four Grammy Awards augmented by his Grammy Hall of Fame induction will certainly become beneficial as he rises from the ashes of the trappings of all the genres, once again making his mark on the denizens of music for the ages.
